Issues With Juice Receiver On Windows

If you use Juice podcast receiver under Windows, please read this entire post. We have heard from a few listeners that they have encountered issues downloading AlternaGeek podcasts using Juice. Juice has a known issue where it will fully download a podcast, but then has some issue when trying to save the file to a directory. We have checked the website for Juice and have browsed their support forums. This is a known issue that has existed with Juice since 2005. According to the support forum, the Juice developers believe the issue to be caused by Windows and that there is not a solution they can provide for this problem.

We have been seeing a lot of repeat downloads of podcasts from computers running Juice. In fact, we saw one Juice instance download almost 2gig of podcasts during a 24 period. The main issue is that Juice will download the same podcasts in their entirety multiple times. This is a serious hit against our bandwidth which we have to pay for.

We regret that due to our bandwidth costs and the fact that no solution is being worked on for Juice, we have had to configure the AlternaGeek website to deny access to the Juice application. This was not the choice we were wanting to make but found that we had to make this decision so the AlternaGeek website could continue to function for our other listeners.

If you are running Juice, please look for another podcast feed reader application to run.  If your instance of Juice was working successfully, then we apologize for having to block Juice.
