They issued a firmware fix at: http://www.theflip.com/support_advisory.shtml Not sure if this is related to the problems you have seen, but maybe that's why I have seen no issues. I don't use PC or MAC so I don't use the Flip software at all. I just pull the video off of the USB mass storage mounted filesystem when it's connected to my Linux system.
