Yes, Podcamp is free. The organizers look for sponsors to help provide the venue and any additional resources that can be arranged. Come on out! Podcamp needs lots of participation so the more the merrier. Always nice to meet our listeners!

Is the Podcamp free? Their wiki is a little bit cluttered. I’m looking at breaking into podcasting with some friends of mine (here in KC). We already have a team blog but have been discussing audio podcasting for a while.

AT&T U-Verse are proprietary solutions by AT&T and Microsoft. Although a great apparent solution, it’s disappointing that the fiber runs are typically still several thousand feet from your home, and then pushed over copper and the DVR’s don’t give a port to access the hard drive. Most communities still don’t have the expansion because of the limited financial resources to run the fiber. For the price, it’s still a bit high for the programming. I’m sure that can all be negotiated or packaged in some way, but flexibility is king. It will be nice to see advances and availability become more wide spread.

I am commenting as I am listening to this podcast. TechMonkey, I figured you were going to try to get an SSH command line on your new DVR to see if it runs Linux, but then you mentioned it was probably CE. Too Bad, you might have been able to get the saved videos off of it to burn on a DVD. Maybe you can still get to those saved TV shows somehow. Thanks for the info about Uverse, I didn’t know exactly what it was.

Damn You! I can probably recite every episode of Dora the Explorer…I am so sick of it.

I don’t think the Microhoo thing will ever take place, it smacks too much of monopolistic practices. Especially in Europe where Microsoft is still being sued from the last fiasco.
