Eol,

"a) how “fast” takes it to actually find the satellites"

That seems to vary a lot. I have seen it take anywhere from 2 to 12 minutes to get the initial GPS fix.

"b) how accurate you get with it (normally GPS units show you the estimated precision like “coordinates exact within a 30 feet radius” or so)"

Not sure what the exact accuracy is. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere in the specs and the Maemo Mapper program I use doesn't specify. I haven't used it yet to try and be super accurate. My use so far has just been tracking my routes while driving.

Once it has the initial GPS fix I can see that it generally "sees" about 11 GPS satellites and will be using anywhere from 4-9 of the satellites at any one time for it's calculations. I know someone that has a couple of Garmin GPS devices that I would like to compare with the N810 to see how close the coordinates are between the devices. If I have a chance to do that I will provide the additional information.

"Does the Nokia has this feature too ?
Is it possible to install routed cards (that are cards that have additional information for navigation) ?
If yes what format ? Garmin ?"

Not familiar with any "cards" like you mention. The Maemo Mapper application can load in predefined routes in the GPS Exchange Format (GPX). I have loaded in GPX route files into the Maemo Mapper application so it can show me the "route" that I wanted to traverse.

Ah yes, also a time for gratulations:

The three of you work now out as a good team. It's much better discussion quality than the starter numbers. You are on a good way I think.

Keep going.

Best Regards,
Eol

Thanks for your review techmonkey. It has been insightful and mentioned some features others didn't review.

As you might know (or not :) I am a Geocacher (see http://eolruin.vox.com/library/posts/tags/geocaching/ for my adventures ☺) so I would be interested in "how good" the built in GPS is.

I would be interested

a) how "fast" takes it to actually find the satellites
b) how "accurate" you get with it (normally GPS units show you the estimated precision like "coordinates exact within a 30 feet radius" or so)

Does the Nokia has this feature too ?
Is it possible to install routed cards (that are cards that have additional information for navigation) ?
If yes what format ? Garmin ?

So many questions ...

If you find the time I would be glad on a short comment from you.

Thx, Eol
