Getting Bit By Early Adopter’s Syndrome
This last week I’ve been thinking of selling a couple hobby items of mine and possibly purchasing an iPod Touch. Linuxchic has an iPod Touch and really likes it but she reminded me about the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet that she reviewed for our last podcast. She thought I might like the N810 better so I researched both devices again. This time I paid a little more attention to all the specifics of the N810. I was impressed to say the least and decided of the two devices, that the N810 might better fill my current needs for a mobile device.
I haven’t sold my hobby items yet, but I’ve been thinking the last couple of days that I may go ahead and purchase the N810 anyway. It’s not an inexpensive device so I was trying to justify it to myself. I found a great deal on the N810 at Buy.com for $439 and free shipping. They also had them in stock. Linuxchic offered her well thought out opinion by saying BUY IT, BUY IT NOW!
Well, today I decided to go for it (after clearing it with the wife) and do this for myself. I headed on out to Buy.com and found that it was no longer in stock. They had sold all of their initial shipment. I know the N810 was just released in November and is a pretty hot item to buy at the moment. I started trying everywhere else I could think of and everyone is out already! I should have known they would go fast since they are so new.
Now I am waiting in anticipation for new shipments to arrive. Of course it will still be a dice roll on whether I will be able to get one or not. I should have bought it a couple days ago. Grrrrrrrrrr.
