Ninja’s Tip of the Day – More Desktops with Beryl
So you’ve been using Beryl for a while and like the shininess but maybe you think to yourself “man, a desktop cube is nice, but four workspace isn’t enough.”. If you’ve been using linux for a while, then you’ve probably gotten accustomed to having virtual desktops. If you’re new to beryl it may seem like you no longer have an option on configuring the number of workspaces, but you do! The trick is that Beryl doesn’t call them virtual desktops, instead it uses the term “Horizontal Virtual Size”. This will set the number of faces on the desktop polygon. To get to this option, simply open up Beryl Manager, and scroll to near the bottom of the “General Options” tab, and slide the slider. You can set the number of faces to anywhere between 3 and 16 faces (although the slider will allow you to select a number outside this range, however it will only display between 3 and 16 faces to the best of my knowledge).
