Time For Change

The Alternageek Tech Show is going to the archives. It’s been a fun year and a half but it’s also been a time consuming venture that we just don’t have the resources for anymore. While the podcast won’t have any new episodes the site will continue to archive past episodes and we have future plans for greatness, just maybe not as an audio podcast. We will keep you posted on what the future holds. Thanks for listening and keep an eye out for new and exciting things happening.

Nerd Stalker Interviews Alternageek

Adolfo Foronda of Nerd Stalker caught up with us in San Francisco while we were attending LinuxWorld. Adolfo interviewed us on camera and asked for our perspective on various tech topics. Adolfo had some great questions and we had a good time talking with him. We talked enough that he had to break the interview into three separate videos.

AlternaGeek OGG Feed Now Available

We have had many listeners request an OGG based feed for the AlternaGeek Tech Show. You have spoken and we have listened! We are happy to announce that in addition to our standard MP3 feed, we now have an OGG based feed. We have been providing links to OGG format podcast files in each show post for quite some time, but now you can subscribe to the new feed using the subscription button on the left side of the page.For those of you who are unfamiliar with OGG, Ogg Vorbis is a completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology with all the benefits of Open Source. Check out the Vorbis site for more information and links to OGG supporting music players for most platforms.

No podcast for week of Feb 11th

There will be no AlternaGeek Tech Show podcast this week while we fend off seasonal colds and viruses while at the same time trying to prepare for PodCamp Midwest. It’s been a long week with various illnesses spreading rampantly around our area. Everyone is in better shape now and Linuxchic and myself are spending our extra time preparing for sessions we are presenting at PodCamp Midwest that is being held this Saturday, February 16th. We’re hoping to record our sessions and make them available on the AlternaGeek website. Make sure to listen in next week when we talk about everything that went on at PodCamp and our thoughts on how our sessions went.

Sometimes we have so much to talk about that we can’t get it all into an episode and while we try not to leave to much good stuff out we get to chit chatting and we can’t fit everything in. We can’t tell you how much we love to get feedback so we are asking for even more of it. What do YOU want to hear about? Is there an app you are want to know more about? A distro you would like to try but don’t have a spare machine lying around to lay it down on without knowing more about it first? Maybe you just want to talk about some of the topics floating around the internet or give your two cents about a news story. Send us an email at info@alternageek.com and tell us about it. You can also attach an audio file in either MP3 or OGG format and we will play it on the podcast. We love to hear from you guys & without listeners we wouldn’t have Alternageek!

With all the crazy happenings this month who did we think we were taking a month long vacation? That’s right, a new episode of the Alternageek podcast is being recorded and will be out in the next few days so all you crazy Alternageek junkies can stop jonesing for the next episode. Holiday Hiatus

The Alternageek podcast will be on hiatus for the holidays. We wish everyone the happiest holiday (any, all, or none) and will return in January with new episodes.
