About
Alternageek: Not your typical geeks! Technology is about changing the way we do things and finding ways to do things better.
Knowledge is Power
At Alternageek we strive to empower people with knowledge to get the most out of technology and to take control of the technology that encompasses every aspect of our lives. Alternageek was born in June 2007 and the name comes from a desire to encompass a wide variety of tech topics. We want to break stereotypes and share our passions with others.
The Alternageek Tech Show covers a general scope of technology including Linux, Windows, Mac, Web 2.0, the Internet, computer hardware, software applications, gadgets, hacks, tech news and a healthy dose of opinion. Linuxchic and TechMonkey host the weekly show that runs approximately an hour.
Alternageek’s constantly evolving goals:
- Be well researched.
- Be passionate about our topics.
- Believe that even news can do with a dose of humor.
- Reach out, educate, entertain, and integrate with the community.
- Be open-minded and be useful to as broad an audience as possible from system administrators to educators, tech enthusiasts and hobbyists.
We might not be first to break a story or share a tip, but what we report on has been tested and cross-referenced to the best of our abilities. We want to share our knowledge. We want to help you get the most out of your technology and keep you abreast of the trends, services, and news that affects you from the world of technology.
